Mina Choi (USA, b. 1979) is currently studying at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, with Prof. Pieter van Dijk. For this academic year, she was awarded a grant to travel to Stuttgart, Germany to study with Prof. Bernard Haas, as a part of exchange study which concentrates on the performance of Max Reger’s organ works. In 2003, she earned a BMus(Hons) in Organ Performance from the Royal College of Music, London, UK where she studied organ with Margaret Phillips and organ improvisation with David Graham. During her study in the UK, she performed in major venues in London, including Grosvenor Chapel, Chelsea Old Church, and St. George’s Hanover Square (Early English Music Project and Handel Festival). From 2001 to 2003, she was an organ scholar of Chelsea Old Church and St.John the Baptist, Pinner, and in 2003, she was a recipient of RCM’s Drake Organ Award.
After her study in the UK, she began a Master’s degree at Yale University, USA as a student of Thomas Murray. From 2003 to 2005, she was an organist of Yale Divinity School Marquand Chapel as well as accompanying the Yale Divinity School Faculty Choir. After two years working as a faculty member of El Centro College and All Saints Episcopal School in Dallas, Texas, she returned to Europe in order to undertake further studies into early music performance practice.
In 2008, she was awarded the first prize winner in the Max Reger Orgelconcours in Leeuwarden, The Netherlands. She has performed in many venues including the Engelsekerk (Amsterdam), Pelgrimskerk (Amstelveen), and St.Larenskerk (Alkmaar). Since 2007, she has also studied harpsichord with Menno van Delft.
