Bart Jacobs

Bart Jacobs (1976) studied organ, harpischord and chamber music at the Lemmensinstituut in Leuven, Belgium, where he completed his Master’s degree with the highest distinction in 2000 as a student of Reitze Smits. In 2002 he completed a second Master’s degree in harpsichord as a student of Kris Verhelst, as well as his soloist diploma in organ, also with the highest distinction. He has taken part in masterclasses with, among others, Martin Haselböck, Hans Van Nieuwkoop and Jos Van Immerseel. In 2006 he was awarded the fourth prize, and the public prize at the International Organ Competition ‘Musica Antiqua’ in Brugges. In March 2008, he was also a finalist at the Max Reger organ competition in Leeuwarden. Bart Jacobs is much in demand, both as a solist, and as a chamber musician. As a continuo player, he has participated on many recordings, as well as in concerts and festivals with various ensembles, including Les Muffatti, Currende het  Collegium Instrumentale Brugense, La Caccia Consort, Zefiro Torna, Flanders Recorder Quartet, and the Flemish Radio Choir and Orchestra. Since 2000, Bart Jacobs has been organist of the Capella SS, Michaelis et Gudulae at Brussels Cathedral. He teaches organ and harpsichord at the Municipal Conservatories of Mechelen and Sint-Agatha-Berchem, and at the ‘Academie van Muziek, Woord en Dans’ in Bornem.
